President Bids Farewell
By Andrew Shuttleworth
Finally the last month of my presidency arrives. I've got to be careful what I write as our editor Mike Lloret is the sole Presidential candidate for 2001-2002. Without wishing to influence the vote I think there's a good chance he'll be elected. Mike's a long time member of the club and has been at most (all?) of the exec meetings this year. It's great for the club that Mike will stand for the role. Barbara Manning will stand as temporary VP until we find someone to stand for the remainder of the year, so we are still looking for candidates. I'll be taking the role of Programs Director so I'll be bugging people for ideas. It would be good to have more people helping out with this role with a view to taking over in the future. This is one of the most rewarding roles if you like meeting interesting people and it's also got the discipline of an immovable monthly deadline if you need that, like myself.
Not much else to say this month except thanks to all those who have supported the club in different ways over the last year. It was the things people said about what you get out of being involved in the club that made me first get involved more and I've got to say they were right. But of course the club is all about computers and being involved has helped me learn a lot of new things and meet others to whom I can always turn for help. I hope the club can do the same for you.
As always, hope to see you at the next meeting.
[I'd like to add that it was Andrew who persuaded me to take up the Editor job again after a fairly long hiatus, and that it has been, and will continue to be, a pleasure and a privilege working with him. -- Mike]
