Internet Email Services for TPC MembersJim Tittsler <Postmaster@tokyopc.org>Document Revision 0.08, 2000.03.081. Email Forwarding2. Mailing Lists3. Membership Directory4. Questions, Problems, and Suggestions1. Email ForwardingEach member of the group has the option of requesting
a unique Email address of the form
Firstname.Lastname This service can be handy if you change Email addresses often. By telling your correspondents your address at TPC you give them a consistent address which is an alias for your changing real address. The disadvantages are that your mail can be delayed slightly and it does impose some costs on the club. Please do NOT use this method for any high volume mailing such as mailing list subscriptions. 2. Mailing ListsThe club sponsors a variety of mailing lists to facilitate communications among its members between face-to-face meetings. A complete catalog of the mailing lists is available by sending an Email message to: info-lists@tokyopc.org All of the mailing lists are also available via a newsreader or via the web. Visit http://www.tokyopc.org/tpc/newsgroups.html for details. One list you may want to join is TPC-list, the list used for announcements of upcoming club meetings and events. Send Email to TPC-list-request@tokyopc.org with the BODY of the message containing the single word subscribe 3. Membership DirectoryThere is an online web membership directory showing the Email address and WWW home page address of any member that wants to be publicly listed. To have your listing added or updated, just use the form available on the web page. 4. Questions, Problems, and SuggestionsIf you have any problem using the TPC mail services, send mail to Postmaster@tokyopc.org Note: The Tokyo PC Users Group does not assume any responsibility for delayed or undelivered mail. All services are provided on a best effort basis by an all volunteer organization. And, as with nearly all Internet mail services, there can be no guarantee of complete privacy of message contents. In the course of trouble-shooting, system operators have the ability to read any message passing through the system. User errors or software errors might unexpectedly make a personal message public. Enjoy the service, but be careful. Tokyo PC Users Group, Post Office Box 103, Shibuya-Ku, Tokyo 150-8691, JAPAN |
